Something all iPhone users look forward to are the software updates. Apple never fail to bring us new and exciting features that make our experience better. iOS 14 has been announcing and will more than likely be available to install in September.
Widgets in iOS 14

For quite some time we’ve been able to make use of widgets on our iPhone. With iOS 14, Apple have given us the ability to resize widgets and make them available on our home screens. With the new ‘Widget Gallery’, we will be able to view all of our widgets in one place. These new features will give us a cleaner and easier experience when using our iPhones for quick tasks, like checking the weather.
IOS 14 App Library
An app library is another exciting feature being made available to us in iOS 14. All of the apps on our device will be stored in this app library, and will be automatically categorized so we can find them easily. An exciting part of the app library is the search bar, this will allow us to quickly search for the apps we want to use. Overall, this new feature in iOS 14 will save all the time we spend scrolling through our home pages to find an app.
Compact UI in iOS 14
We’ve all experience getting a phone call from someone we don’t want to speak to. With iOS 14, we will no longer have to wait for the call to stop ringing before carrying on with a task. The new compact UI causes calls to appear as any normal notification would, so we can carry on doing what we were doing while ignoring a call! The same can be said for FaceTime calls.
IOS 14 Car Keys
We were introduced to Apple’s Wallet a few software updates ago. It’s a place which stores all of our cards for quick and easy purchases. In iOS 14, Apple introducing a feature which allows us to add car keys to our wallet for even more efficiency. We will be able to share our keys with family and friends through iMessage, we can restrict and revoke access to the car and, we can start the car. What if your iPhone dies? Apple have thought about this; a new power reserving feature in iOS 14, means that you can use the keys in your Wallet for up to five hours after your phone dies.
Maps in iOS 14
The built in Maps application on our iPhone is something we’ve all used. We’ve seen how much it’s developed and how handy it’s become. With iOS 14, even more useful features have been added. If you add your electric vehicle to your iPhone, Maps will automatically plan routes with charging stops along the way. The application will also let you know of any approaching cameras, whether it’s a speed camera or red-light camera. You will be able to see any congested areas and plan a different route accordingly. Not all of the new features in Maps are for car journeys: the application can now create a cycling route, along cycle friendly roads and, will let you know of any elevation and busy streets.
